Storytelling in silk and thread
Commission Details
Ready to bring your dream design to life?
Let’s make magic.
Every gown, corset, and fantasy piece I create is born from hours of craftsmanship and immersion in worlds that feel a little more enchanted than our own. Whether you’re seeking breathable fabrics for wandering through your imagined woodlands or a sweeping ball gown that transforms you into the goddess of your own story, each commission is designed as treasured, wearable art—unique, sculptural, and made with intention.
How It Works
1. Submit an Inquiry Form
Your journey begins with a brief inquiry. This helps me understand the overall concept, mood, or specific design you’re envisioning. Think of it as the opening chapter of our collaboration.
2. I Follow Up With Deeper Design Questions
Once I’ve reviewed your form, I’ll reach out with a few clarifying questions so I can shape your design with precision:
Do you have reference images, sketches, mood boards, or patterns that capture the feel or structure you’re dreaming of?
What materials speak to you? Natural fibers only, or are luxe synthetics welcome? Any textures, colors, or embellishments you love—or want to avoid?
Do you have a deadline in mind? All commissions are fully made-to-order, and some fabrics or embellishments require special sourcing.
Please note: timelines shorter than 4 weeks are typically not possible due to procurement and production time.
3. Cost Estimate & Design Proposal
After gathering all the details, I’ll prepare an approximate cost along with a clear breakdown sheet. You’ll also receive a design proposal that reflects your vision—refined, sketched, and ready for approval.
A One-Artist Studio
Every piece that leaves my studio—every gown, corset, men’s fit, sculpted horn, crystalline detail, and hand-stitched embellishment—is crafted entirely by me. I do not have a production team, assistants, or outside help. It’s my two hands, my tools, my late nights, and my devotion to creating wearable art that feels alive.
Because of this, your commission is not just another project on a schedule—it is a personal, immersive collaboration. When you commission a design from me, you are receiving a piece shaped with intention, focus, and the quiet kind of magic that only happens when one artist gives their full attention to a creation from start to finish.
This is why timelines, sourcing windows, and communication matter so deeply. Your piece is unique, handcrafted, and never rushed. Each stitch, stone, bead, and sculpted element belongs to you alone.
Pricing & Payments
Every custom piece begins with a $750 deposit, which secures your spot on my commission calendar and allows me to begin the design process. This deposit is fully applied toward the total cost of your garment. Because each creation varies in complexity, fabric choice, and embellishment, final pricing is determined after your consultation and design proposal.
For this reason, please submit your inquiry form before sending your deposit.
The remaining balance is due in full before your piece ships. You are welcome to make payments throughout the production timeline—I offer either 3–4 monthly installments or equal payments scheduled prior to your shipping date if your project is due sooner. Your order will ship once the final payment has been received.
Payments may be made through Square, PayPal, Venmo, or ThatLitWitch.com. Simply let me know your preferred method and I will send an invoice tailored to your plan.
Timing
Please note: My commissions book out 5-10 months in advance, with some months already filled for the following two years. If you have a project need within 3 months or less, I will likely need to pass, but I can recommend several other designers who may be able to work with you.
Production
Once we have agreed upon your timeline, initial concept, and your deposit is received, I will send you a detailed measurement list. After reviewing your measurements and confirming they’re all correct, the true magic begins.
I start by sourcing fabrics, trims, and specialty materials for your design. You’ll receive photos and updates throughout this stage to ensure everything matches your vision.
Once you approve the materials, I begin crafting your piece—cutting, sculpting, embellishing, and shaping your gown or garment into its final, enchanted form. I continue to send progress updates so you can follow the transformation from concept to creation.
Processing Time
Most commissions require 6–10 weeks from start to finish once your project has moved to the next on my list per our agreed upon booking time, depending on complexity, fabric sourcing, embellishment work, and the scale of your design.
Some highly detailed gowns may require additional time. During your consultation, I will give you a realistic estimate for your specific project so you know exactly what to expect.
Shipping
All commissioned pieces ship from California, USA, via UPS or FedEx.
Shipping costs are calculated based on the approximate weight, size, packaging, and destination of your garment. Once your design is complete, I will send you exact shipping options based on the final weight.
Please note:
-
I am not responsible for delays or damage caused by the carrier.
-
I strongly recommend purchasing shipping insurance for all custom orders to protect your investment.
Returns, Cancellations & Refunds
Because each commission is custom-designed and handcrafted, I do not accept returns, refunds, or exchanges.
However, if an issue arises, please reach out—I will always do my best to help find a solution.
Cancellation policies are as follows:
-
Before fabric and materials are purchased: Your payment will be refunded minus processing fees and taxes.
-
After materials are purchased but before production begins: A refund may be issued minus the deposit, taxes, and processing fees.
-
After production has begun: No refunds are available, as custom work and materials will already be in process.
Each piece is made exclusively for you, and these policies help protect the integrity and sustainability of my studio.
For additional information, please read the Terms & Conditions page.
How it all starts....
It all starts with an idea... whether it's a theme, a vision, or a picture, I work with you to design a project board to help flesh out the details first. From the shape, to the fabrics, accent peices, and color scheme, and anything else that helps describe the vibe of your design. After that, the real art begins!
The Results
From start to finish, I send updates, ensuring your gown is as close to perfect as possible. Each gown is bespoke, and a one-of-a-kind work of art.
Commission Inquiry
Please keep in mind that I only accept a very limited number of commissions each month and require at least 8-10 weeks lead time for gown commissions. Please complete the following form and I will reach back out to you regarding your request ASAP.
About the Designer
Tiffany Chan is a Los Angeles–based artist and writer, and the singular force behind That Lit Witch—a one-woman studio where couture design slips into the shadows of dark romantasy. Armed with a Doctorate, Post-Doctorate specialization, and years spent teaching creative writing, she blends academic precision with the feral instinct of a storyteller who knows how to build worlds and bring them to life through fabric and form.
Every gown, corset, men’s piece, and sculpted accessory is crafted solely by her hands—stitched, shaped, and conjured with obsessive devotion. Her creations are not merely garments; they are thresholds. Portals into myth, magic, and temptation. Pieces meant to awaken something powerful in the wearer, something ancient, something a little dangerous… and entirely unforgettable.
